Traditional tap adjustment. Personally fitted and tested.
The Green Haven Kanna Shave is a compact woodworking tool for controlled shaping and refining your work. Inspired by the Japanese nankin kanna, it combines the feel of a wooden-bodied tool with a straightforward aluminum tension-plate system.
Fine blade adjustments are made with light taps in or out. The tension plate secures the blade without relying on the tightly fitted wooden blade-retention grooves of a traditional kanna.
Every tool is personally fitted, adjusted, and test-cut by me before it leaves my shop. You receive a tool that has already made shavings at my bench and is prepared for work at yours.
Carefully chosen materials
- High-density curupay body: Rich natural color and distinctive grain give each tool its own character.
- 30 mm 52100 bearing-steel blade: Professionally heat-treated, backed by ten years of blade-making experience.
- Precision-cut aluminum tension plate: Secure blade retention with traditional tap adjustment.
Prepared by the maker
I check the blade fit, adjustment, and cutting performance of every completed tool. That individual attention is part of every Kanna Shave—not an optional setup service.
Like any quality cutting tool, it will need sharpening and routine care. Keep the blade clean and lightly oiled when stored, and protect the wooden body from excessive moisture.
Natural variations in curupay grain and color make every Green Haven Kanna Shave unique.
